Ok, now its time to freshen up that once loved skirt! Create a peplum effect with a strip of wide lace in a matching color, or you can even add a pop of color by adding a funky shade.
- Measure from one side of your waist to the other around the back. Use the measurement to cut the lace, but add 3 inches to the total to allow for stitching and so the lace will be visible from the front.
- Fold under lace 1/2 inch on each side and stitch, either by hand, by machine, by stitch witchery or even fabric glue if you are pressed for time or simply can't sew. This will leave each end of the lace with a clean edge.
- Pin the top edge of the lace down along the top back of the waistband and stitch down the top of the lace. Leave the bottom of the lace free so that it will flare out, creating a feminine peplum shape. See pictures.
