Upcycling this vintage Willie Nelson concert t-shirt was an easy way to create a sweet braided racerback tank top. I used a rotary cutter to get clean edges and then cut off the sleeves, the neck and the bottom hem. If you are planning to sell upcycled clothes, attention to detail will make them look a bit more professional. This is why I also measure and mark my cuts with a washable pencil. Next, make 3 cuts in the back: 1 horizontal and then 2 evenly spaced vertically. Braid the vertical strips created with the cuts and then attach the braid with a sewing machine to give it lots of strength. You can use a leftover strip of fabric to cover the stitch connecting the braid to the top. I added a little pop of detail and color to this vintage tee by hand sewing some large stitches with red embroidery thread. Voila! A perfect little tank with a bit of musical attitude :)
